MEET Sergio

Sergio is a fine line and microrealism tattoo artist at IGLÀ Tattoo Studio in Midtown Manhattan, NYC. His work combines delicate lines, soft shading, and carefully planned compositions, often with a conceptual idea behind them.

He takes a measured approach to tattooing. Before he begins, Sergio studies how the design is built, how its proportions work, and how it will sit on the body. He would rather revise one small detail than ignore something that feels slightly off.

Artist story

I take tattooing seriously. Not because every design needs a heavy meaning, but because someone is trusting me to put it on their body.

My process starts well before the appointment. I listen to the idea, study the composition, and make adjustments until everything feels balanced. Sometimes the change is so small that nobody else would notice it. I would, though. Those are usually the details I spend the most time on.

Fine line and microrealism suit the way I work. Both require patience and control, but they have also taught me when to stop. More detail does not always make a stronger tattoo. Sometimes a simple composition says exactly what it needs to say.

I want clients to feel comfortable speaking up and confident that I have understood what they are asking for. Every piece receives the same care, regardless of its size or complexity.

I’m still learning with every tattoo. That is part of what keeps the work interesting. There is always another technique to refine, another problem to solve, and another reason to do the next piece better.

Specialization

Sergio specializes in fine line, microrealism, and conceptual tattoos. His work is defined by precise lines, controlled shading, and compositions that are carefully edited rather than filled with unnecessary detail.

He considers how the size and proportions of a design will work on the body, then refines each element before tattooing begins. His approach suits clients who appreciate subtle details and artwork with an idea behind it. Sergio is equally interested in restraint, knowing that a clean, simple composition can be more effective than a visually crowded one.

How We Start

Sergio starts with a conversation. He wants to understand the client’s idea, the reason behind it, and how they picture the finished piece.

He then studies the composition and adjusts its details, scale, and proportions to suit the body. The design may go through several refinements before the appointment if something still feels unresolved.
