At IGLÀ Tattoo, fine line artistry is our foundation and our passion. We specialize in creating tattoos defined by their precision, elegance, and intricate detail. Using single-needle and ultra-fine techniques, we craft designs that range from minimalist symbols and delicate script to highly complex micro-art. Whether you seek a subtle whisper or a stunningly detailed piece, our approach ensures clarity and beauty that stands the test of time.
Elegant typography and custom script, rendered with precision.
Tiny, impactful designs for a subtle personal statement.
Delicate fine-line florals, from bold blooms to translucent petals.
Photographic detail on a miniature scale with stunning clarity.
Clean, precise character art, minimalist symbols from your favorite series.
From subtle washes to vibrant saturation, add a new dimension.
Fine line describes the result more than the tool: thin, controlled lines, soft shading, and detail that stays readable at a small size. At IGLA, our artists work with single-needle and ultra-fine setups, which lets them draw very delicate lines that look lighter and cleaner than traditional tattooing.
That control is why the style fits such a wide range of ideas. Handwritten script, tiny symbols, botanical drawings, and even portraits scaled down to a few inches all work, as long as the spacing between lines is planned with the skin in mind. Part of our design process is leaving enough room between details so the tattoo stays clear as it settles in.
Wondering how fine line compares with bolder styles over time? Our guide to fine line vs. traditional tattoos breaks down how each one ages.

IGLA Tattoo Studio NYC has great artists!! I witnessed this first hand. Katherine did my mom's autograph a few weeks ago. Yesterday, Kat began my sleeve. All custom. All amazing! I watched other artists create wonderful pieces while the best artist worked on mine. The drive to NYC is worth it but I wouldn't be mad if they opened a shop in Maryland. Thanks Kat!! See you soon!Posted on Google![]()

Big fan of IGLA here! They take such good care of you and such detailed work on your tattoo. Katherine was our artist and she was lovely! Couldn’t recommend this place more
Fine line works almost anywhere on the body, but some spots show it off better than others. The inner wrist, forearm, collarbone, behind the ear, ankle, and ribs give delicate linework room to breathe, and they don’t stretch or rub as much as other areas.
Design choice matters just as much. Small botanicals, short lettering, constellations, animals drawn in one flowing line, and minimalist symbols all translate beautifully. Very tiny text or lines packed too closely together can soften over the years, so your artist may suggest sizing a piece up slightly or simplifying one detail. Fingers, hands, and other high-friction areas tend to fade sooner and may need a touch-up, and our touch-up guarantee explains how that works.

IGLA is a female-owned fine line studio in Midtown Manhattan, founded by tattoo artist Darya Baione. Fine line is our foundation, not a side option: every artist on our team tattoos it, so you get a specialist whichever day you come in.
The portfolios on this page show the range, from delicate botanicals and lettering to microrealism and anime-inspired pieces. We have more than 1,100 Google reviews, and many of them say the same thing: clients arrived unsure, sometimes nervous about a first tattoo, and left with exactly what they had pictured.
Ready when you are. Request an appointment or message us on WhatsApp or Instagram.
Here is how a typical fine line appointment goes, from the first message to aftercare.
You reach out through our website, by phone, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, or in person at the studio. Tell us your idea, send a few references, and mention where you want the tattoo. We match your idea with the right artist (every artist does fine line, and each has preferred styles), then your artist confirms the size and price and a deposit holds your date.
On the day, you and your artist go over the design and placement one more time so everything is right before we start. Then the tattooing begins, at the steady pace that fine line work needs. When we finish, you get clear aftercare instructions so your lines heal sharp.
Prefer to skip the planning? Fine line is available with every artist, so you can also walk in on a walk-in day.
Fine line tattoos at IGLA start at $150. The final price depends on the size, placement, and detail of your design, since intricate work takes more time in the chair. We do not have fixed prices for specific designs. Send us your idea, the size, the placement, and any references, and your artist gives you the exact price before anything starts.
To hold an appointment, we take a deposit: $100 for small to medium pieces and $200 for designs quoted above $1,000. We accept cash and card. If you are planning a larger project, our guide to paying for a custom tattoo in NYC covers ways to plan the cost.
Book your appointment today and get started on your own custom fine-line tattoo. We’re excited to work with you and bring your vision to life.
Fine-line tattoos require a little extra care to keep those crisp lines sharp. Healing time is similar to other tattoos, but be sure to avoid rubbing, scratching, or exposing the tattoo to direct sunlight while it’s healing.
Pain varies from person to person, but fine-line tattoos are usually less painful than large, solid tattoos. The needle is smaller, and the lines are finer, so the experience tends to be less intense.
With the right care, your fine-line tattoo can last for years! Just keep in mind that they’re more delicate, so you’ll need to be extra careful to avoid fading over time.

Fine-line tattoos can fade a bit faster since they’re more delicate, but as long as you take good care of it and get touch-ups when needed, you’ll have it looking fresh for years.
Yes, absolutely! A lot of people with sensitive skin love fine-line tattoos because the application is lighter. Just make sure to talk with your artist first, to make sure your skin will be okay with the process.
Fine-line tattoos are usually better for smaller or more detailed designs, but yes, you can totally do bigger ones too. Just make sure the design stays clean and legible, especially on a larger area.
Yes, you can get a fine-line tattoo over scars or stretch marks! But, it’s a good idea to chat with your artist about it first. The texture of your skin might affect how the tattoo heals, so your artist will make adjustments to the design if needed.
They may need more touch-ups over time because of their delicate nature, but this really depends on factors like your skin type and how well you follow the aftercare instructions. Regular touch-ups will help keep your tattoo looking sharp.
Fine-line tattoos can sometimes cost more due to the level of detail involved. They often take more time to complete, which can affect the price. But if you’re looking for something precise and intricate, it’s worth the investment!
While most fine-line tattoos are done in black, you can for sure add color! Just keep in mind that the color has to be applied carefully to keep it from overpowering the design, so it looks just as beautiful as you imagined.
Yes. Fine line is available with every artist, so you can walk in on days when artists take walk-ins, from 11 AM to 7 PM. Walk-in days sometimes also have booked appointments, and the schedule can change, so call us or message us on Instagram or WhatsApp first and we will tell you who is in that day. For larger or more detailed designs, booking ahead guarantees your time. You can read more on our walk-in tattoos page.
Fine line describes how a tattoo looks: thin, delicate lines and light shading. Single needle is one way of building that look, and many fine line artists use it. The two overlap, but a tattoo can be fine line without being done with a single needle. At IGLA, your artist chooses the setup that suits your design.
You can book through our website, by phone, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, or in person at the studio. A deposit holds your appointment: $100 for small to medium pieces and $200 for designs quoted above $1,000.
Eat a proper meal, drink plenty of water, and wear clothes that give easy access to the area you are getting tattooed. Avoid alcohol beforehand and bring any references you have. Your artist will go over the design and placement with you before starting.
